Racing and Wagering WA expands commitment to equestrian sport in WA

Equestrian WA (EWA) is thrilled to announce the expansion of Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s (RWWA) long-standing support of the equestrian community and increased benefits for owners of retired racehorses in the state.

The sponsorship agreement, which runs until the end of 2024, elevates RWWA’s Off the Track WA (OTTWA) program to exclusive Principal Partner of EWA and the primary supporter of equestrian sport in WA.

This arrangement extends benefits directly to owners and riders of retired standardbred and thoroughbred horses. OTTWA Passport holders will be eligible for one-hour free arena hire at the State Equestrian Centre (SEC), the opportunity to attend the EWA Horse EDU Series, a 50 per cent discount on the total cost of Base Horse Registration through EWA, and a $15 discount off EWA Annual Membership, redeemable from 1 January 2023.

Continuing for their third season, the popular OTTWA clinics hosted in both regional and metropolitan areas will again give opportunities to owners of standardbreds and thoroughbreds to participate in workshops with EA accredited coaches and attend competitions across various disciplines.

The agreement will also see Racing WA Careers recognised as a Silver Partner of EWA, Support Partner of the EWA Rising Stars High Performance Program and Event Partner of the Interschool Equestrian Championships until July 2023.

Dedicated to the future of careers in equestrian pursuits, Racing WA Careers will host practical industry experiences, offering insights into the many job opportunities available in the racing industry.

EWA CEO Zac Acott expressed his delight at the continuation of OTTWA’s support.

“RWWA’s OTTWA program has been a perennial supporter of equestrian sport in WA over a number of years and we’re chuffed to see that support expanded through an Exclusive Principal Partnership, the OTTWA Clinics, our Rising Stars Program and Interschools Championships,” Mr Acott said.

“RWWA’s support truly encompasses everyone in our community across a number of different levels and age groups, providing tremendous benefits for the future of our sport.”

RWWA Chief Racing Officer David Hunter said the organisation was pleased to expand the support available to the off the track members of the equestrian community.

“We’re committed to supporting thoroughbreds and standardbreds after they leave the care of the racing community, with a range of initiatives to help racehorses make the transition to life as companion, pleasure, or performance horses,” David said.

“The OTTWA Clinics play an important part in generating opportunities for owners of retired racehorses, through a variety of clinics and events across various disciplines.”
