MOET DE VEGA

Ten-year-old Moet De Vega retired from racing in 2022 after 21 starts, three wins, and two second placings under the guidance of trainers Sean and Jake Casey. Sired by Lope De Vega, he earned over $72,000 (including bonuses) during his career.

Following his retirement, Moet was purchased directly off the track by Jodie Edwards, who was immediately drawn to his kind nature. With the goal of creating a versatile all-rounder, Jodie and Moet began their off-the-track journey together.

Moet has taken to his new life with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic, proving himself in a range of disciplines. His efforts have earned him notable achievements, including being named Unofficial Horse of the Year in 2023 at Perth Horse and Pony Club. He also placed second at his first Hunter Trial in Northam, confidently tackling the water jump on debut.

Jodie continues to develop their partnership and is aiming to compete successfully in dressage and one-day eventing. With long-term goals of reaching one-metre heights in show jumping, Moet’s future looks bright.

This kind and talented chestnut gelding is a shining example of the successful second careers retired racehorses can enjoy.
