POSTPONED - Wooroloo Bounces Back in 2021

POSTPONED

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the lifting of lockdown restrictions over the 1st & 2nd May, and with the health and well-being of all in mind, the Perth Horse Trials Association Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone the Bates Saddles Wooroloo 1 CCI-S event scheduled for 1-2 May.

With the short lead in time and the effect of the lockdown on the availability of officials and Organising Committee, the combined impacts meant that the event could not be delivered in its full capacity if it went ahead this coming weekend.

The volunteer committee are working hard with officials, stakeholders and other event organisers to establish a new date as soon as possible. Watch Perth Horse Trials on Facebook and Instagram for further updates

Wooroloo 1 is back in style this year after a COVID-related cancellation last year, and organisers are thrilled to welcome Bates Saddles as title sponsors.

The Bates Saddles Wooroloo CCI-S will be held on 1-2 May at Wooroloo Prison Farm in the Perth Hills.

Bates Saddles are providing a number of great prizes as well as a special offer unique to all Wooroloo competitors to celebrate the long-standing partnership between Bates Saddles and the Perth Horse Trials Association.

“Bates Saddles are delighted to support Perth Horse Trials Association’s upcoming event, Bates Saddles Wooroloo CCI-S. The PHTA events at Wooroloo have been the premier events for West Australian competitors and spectators for many decades,” said a Bates Saddles spokesperson. “With the impact Wooroloo has seen from the recent bushfires, Bates Saddles are thrilled to be able to further support the equestrian community, and Wooroloo town alike, through the sponsorship of the 2021 PHTA events at Wooroloo.”

Last minute lobbying from riders has also enabled the event to upgrade from a CCN to a CCI-S, with two additional FEI classes on top of the usual May schedule.

"After the many uncertainties of the last year, we are thrilled to be back and able to host our May event again this year. Only a few days ago, we were approached by a group of riders eager to achieve MERs and our committee sprang into action, putting all the pieces in place at very short notice to add FEI classes for CCI2*-S and CCI3*-S horses, “ explained Event Director Kerrie Robbins. “We appreciate that getting qualifying runs has been difficult due to travel restrictions over the last few months so we have done everything we can to assist our elite WA riders.”

The additional classes have been well supported with 20+ entries across the two and three star sections. International Course Designer Wayne Copping is able to travel again from his South Australia home to design the cross country courses.

Bates Saddles Wooroloo CCI-S is signed from the Gt Eastern Highway, 8km from Chidlow. Entry is free for spectators, and there will be refreshments available. For further information follow Perth Horse Trials on Facebook and Instagram.
