From Timber to Take-Off: Cross-Country Workshop Boosts Regional Skills

On Sunday 10 August, Equestrian WA delivered an Officials Training – Cross-Country Course Building Workshop in the Wheatbelt, bringing valuable hands-on learning to the region.

The workshop was led by experienced EA Level 4 Course Designer Chris Edwards, whose expertise and guidance offered participants the opportunity to gain practical experience in building cross-country jumps. Attendees also explored key elements of course preparation and design, ensuring they left with skills they can apply directly to events in their own clubs.

Representation from across the Wheatbelt was strong, with participants embracing the chance to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the sport’s growth in the region. The atmosphere on the day reflected the enthusiasm and passion of all involved.

In a generous gesture, all jumps built during the workshop were gifted to the hosting club, Eastern Wheatbelt Riding Club, supporting their future competitions and training opportunities.

This initiative was delivered as part of Equestrian WA’s Regional Servicing Program, supported by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) and our Regional Education Partner, Milne Feeds.

Equestrian WA is committed to bringing quality training and development opportunities to all corners of the state. Stay tuned for more workshops and programs coming to our regions soon!
