Summer round now open - D'Arcy Slater Foundation scholarship 2024

The D'Arcy Slater Foundation and WAIS are pleased to advise applications for the D'Arcy Slater Foundation scholarship 2024 summer round are now open.

WAIS has been approached by the D'Arcy Slater Foundation to facilitate the sport scholarship program and is proud to be assisting the Foundation in their endeavours.

The purpose of the D’Arcy Slater scholarship is to assist youth in the pursuit of sporting goals of excellence with the specific objective to provide a scholarship fund to offset costs associated with training for or competing at a significant sporting career milestone competition.

Scholarships will be offered on a bi-annual basis, to ensure that both winter and summer sports have equal opportunity to be considered.  Up to eight individual scholarships worth $5,000 will be awarded annually.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

• Be a Western Australian, who is currently living in Western Australia or has been required to relocate interstate of overseas to a sport training centre approved by their national sporting organisation to further their sporting career
• Be, at the time of application, aged between 13 and 25 years
• Be competing in a sport recognised by the Australian Sports Commission

Applicants are required to meet the selection criteria, which is outlined on the form below, and consists of

1. Demonstration of personal qualities including leadership, commitment and sportsmanship
2. The importance of the sporting career milestone competition in the athlete sport career pathway
3. Personal (or, if relevant, family) financial need (Note – scholarship funds are not for everyday expenses ie: rent, mortgage payment, car insurance, power bills etc)
4. Level of other funding received to contribute towards your sporting goals

Applications will be assessed by a selection panel, consisting of the three WAIS Performance Team Directors. Successful applicants will be notified.

Applications are now open and applicants can apply via the application form available on the WAIS website. The summer application period closes at 5pm on Friday, 19^th April 2024.
