JAU LA ZANZIBAR
Tall, handsome, and full of potential, Zanzibar is one of Western Australia’s many retired racehorses now thriving in life after racing.
Sired by Crowded House, Zanzibar had 12 career starts, claiming one win before retiring in 2024. Beginning his career in Victoria with Danny O’Brien and Jarrod Robinson, he later moved west and was trained by Warwick Bradshaw before retiring into the care of thoroughbred retrainer, Linda Brenzi.
Bridget Manners first met Zanzibar during her first day at a pre-training stud, where he was her first ride of the day. Instantly impressed by his softness and beautiful movement, Bridget was thrilled to later see him listed for rehoming and quickly made him her own.
Their first year together focused on building trust and continuing Zanzibar’s off-the-track education. Though an injury briefly interrupted his progress, Bridget took the time to rehabilitate him carefully, and Zanzibar has since returned to work with enthusiasm.
Now enjoying his jumping career, Zanzibar has competed at Oakford Equestrian’s Jump Cross and Hills Show Jumping. Bridget hopes to continue developing him into a confident show jumper, aiming for 80cm classes and some dressage along the way.
Equestrian WA wishes Bridget and Zanzibar all the best on their off-the-track journey.
