Celebrating Sharon Jarvis OAM PLY: A Para-Equestrian Trailblazer Honoured for Service to Australian Sport

Equestrian Western Australia is proud to congratulate Miss Sharon Rae Jarvis on receiving the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours. This prestigious national award recognises Sharon’s exceptional service to equestrian sport and her inspirational role as a trailblazer in para-equestrian competition.

A proud Western Australian, Sharon’s story is one of resilience, determination, and excellence. After surviving a rare form of cancer as a child, she returned to riding and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the most respected and successful para-equestrian athletes in the country.

Over her career, Sharon represented Australia on the world stage at three Paralympic Games and has competed at the highest level across multiple international championships. She is celebrated not only for her competitive success but also for her leadership within the sport—mentoring young athletes, advocating for inclusivity, and helping shape the future of para-equestrian in Australia.

Sharon has long been a role model in the WA equestrian community, admired for her sportsmanship, courage, and unwavering commitment to her sport. Her OAM PLY is a fitting tribute to a lifetime of dedication and a legacy that continues to inspire.

Equestrian WA congratulates Sharon on this well-deserved honour and thanks her for the impact she has made, both within our community and across the broader sporting landscape.
