What are the benefits of becoming an EWA Member?

Your EWA membership is more than insurance - it connects you to a community, supports development, and opens doors to training, competitions, pathways, and participation opportunities statewide.  Some examples include:

  • Ability to compete in EA events/competitions
  • Access to accredited coaches/officials
  • Education and development opportunities
  • Insurance coverage for you
  • Facility access and discounts
  • Member protection services
  • Community, pathways and support

For a brief overview of some of the key benefits visit Membership Benefits or visit Membership Categories to decide on a category.

Which membership category should I choose?
Whether you are a highly competitive rider, a recreational rider, a coach, a breeder, or a club, EWA has a membership category for you. Please review the Membership Categories to decide which membership is right for you.   You can upgrade at any time online and you will only be charged the difference in cost between the memberships.

If you require support, please contact EWA during office hours on (08) 9296 1200.  Please note our office will be closed between from Friday, 19 December until Friday, 2 January 2026 for the Christmas / New Year holidays.  We will reopen on Monday, 5 January 2026.

Do I need a membership if I only ride recreationally?
We recommend at least a Recreational Membership, which provides 24/7 personal accident insurance and a portion of public liability cover.

What is the difference between participant and competitor membership?
Compared to the Participant Category, the Competitive Category offers a a higher level of membership and more competitive categories permitted. Please visit the Membership Categories for a full summary.

Which membership is for Adult Riding Club members?
Adult Riding Memberships are available to those who are a member of an Adult Riding Club that is affiliated with a club that is part of the Adult Riding Clubs Association of WA (ARCA) and Equestrian WA. An adult riding member allows you to participate in EA ARC classes as well as the equivalent of a participant member.

How much does EWA membership cost?
Please refer to Membership Categories for prices.

Why do membership fees differ between states?
Membership fees vary between states because each state operates independently and must set fees based on its own local costs, member base and service delivery requirements. While all states must apply EA’s national charges, the state portion of each membership fee is different.

Are there any rebates and/or financial support available?
To further support our community with 2026 membership, we offer:

  • Family Rebate: 10% discount for a minimum of three competitive memberships (must include one Competitive Senior membership).
  • Student Rebate: $55 discount for eligible full-time students aged 18+ holding a Senior Competitive membership.
Please note: rebates cannot be used in conjunction with each other.
  • Instalment payments: You can choose to pay over four instalments.  Please note that the EA Admin, EA IT, and EA Insurance Levy are included in the first instalment, with the remaining balance spread across three monthly instalments.

How long does my membership last?
EWA membership runs by calendar year (i.e. January to December). All EWA memberships expire on 31 December, regardless of the month the member joined/renewed.

What does my membership pay for?
Your fees go towards covering operational, governance and service delivery costs - the behind-the-scenes work required to keep the sport running. For example, insurance arrangements, governance and administration, running competitions and pathways, facility operations (e.g., SEC), safety programs, coach/official accreditation delivery.

How long will it take for my membership to be processed?
If you have joined online, your membership will be current immediately upon payment.

Does my horse require registration?
Dressage: Required for Official competition or for earning grading/upgrading points.
Eventing: EvA95 or above: Full registration + Eventing Competition Licence required; EvA80 or below: Horse registration not required
Show Jumping:
1.04m or below: Base registration required

How do I renew my competition licence?
Login to Just Go and head to the Horse Hub section, select the horse, go to licences, competition licence ADD or Renew. Please note ALL owners must be CURRENT Financial members for the Licence to be purchased.

At what age do I become a Senior member?
Members become Seniors in the calendar year that they turn 19. For example, if a member turns 18 years old in February 2025, they are still considered a Junior for the whole 2025 calendar year. In 2026, they would become a Senior member.

Insurance

What does member insurance cover?
EWA members receive Personal Accident Cover (for injuries you sustain) and Public and Product Liability Cover (for third party property damage and personal injury) under the Marsh Insurance EA Membership Structure.

Is the insurance optional?
No. Insurance is included nationally through EA to ensure consistent risk management and protection for all members and organisers.

Do I need EA member insurance if my club already has its own insurance?
Most club insurance policies only cover the club, its office bearers and volunteers by providing Public & Product Liability, Personal Accident, Professional Indemnity and Management Liability Insurance. If you would like your own insurance to cover you for injuries you sustain, and accidents or damages that occur to third parties as a result of you or your horse, you will need your own insurance.

When is my insurance effective?
The insurance is effective at the point EWA confirms your membership details and payment.

I have had an accident and would like to make a claim. Who do I contact?
Please visit the Marsh Sport Website or call the Marsh Sport team on 1300 130 373.
