New Regional Squad Creating Pathways for Young Equestrian Talent
Equestrian WA is excited to announce the launch of the new Regional Athlete Youth Squad (RAYS) — a development program designed to support young riders in regional areas of Western Australia.
This program is created for riders aged 17 years and under and aims to help regional athletes progress through competition levels and build a pathway toward Equestrian WA’s high performance programs.
RAYS will provide young equestrians with access to development opportunities, mentorship and quality coaching, while recognising the unique challenges regional riders can face accessing elite pathways.
Applications for the 2026 squad close on 25 May 2026, with riders able to apply with up to two horses. Eligible results must come from official EA or Pony Club competitions between 1 January 2025 and 1 May 2026.
As part of the application process, riders will submit either a short written essay or video sharing their riding journey, goals and community involvement.
The first RAYS clinic is scheduled for 21 June 2026.
The initiative is proudly supported by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport as well as nutrition partner Milne Feeds.
