BERNI AND THE JETS | JETTING OFF ON BERNI AIRLINES!

Berni and the Jets, a 2010 gelding by Bernardini from Western Australia, began his racing career in 2013 under various trainers, including Raquel Williams, Patrick Bermingham Jnr, and Ben Owen. After 10 starts, Berni retired in 2015 and was listed on Rehome a Racehorse. Kariss Whitfield, a racing enthusiast and strapper/track work rider, discovered Berni through a Facebook advertisement. Impressed by his character, she purchased him just a week after his final race.

Kariss and Berni embarked on a journey to transition him into the world of jumping and eventing, a task made challenging due to his sensitive nature. With patience and persistence, Kariss unlocked his full potential. Over eight years, they achieved several notable milestones, including a third-place finish in the diamond class at the 2021 Equestrian in The Park and multiple victories in six-bar classes, clearing heights of 1.55m at various shows.

In 2023, Berni and Kariss secured 7th place at Capel CCN and 9th place at Dryandra CCI in the CCN1*. Their future plans include competing at 1.25 and 1.30 heights for show jumping and moving up to three-star eventing, with aspirations to participate in the 2024 Melbourne Three-Day International Event. Kariss cherishes Berni as a versatile, athletic, and willing partner for their equestrian endeavors.
