Follow the journey of WA Para-Dressage riders Suzin Wells and Sharon Jarvis: 2023 National Dressage Championships

Suzin Wells and Sharon Jarvis, representing the WA Para-Equestrian Dressage team, embarked on an exciting journey to the National Dressage Championships in Boneo. For Sharon, this marked her 24th trip to the east, while it was Suzin's inaugural experience.

Their adventure began on Monday, September 25th, following a triumphant performance at the WA Dressage Championships. Along the way, they welcomed Eastern states rider Stella Baron, who showcased remarkable riding skills aboard Sharon Jarvis and Jade Edwards' stallion, Lord Lamaque. Stella's impressive performances earned her the FEI Champion title and a personal best during the weekend, setting high expectations for the upcoming National Champs in Boneo in October.

Suzin's horse enjoyed a comfortable journey, sponsored by Combined Horse Transport, with a 10-hour stopover in Adelaide and regular stops for food and water. Sharon's horse, on the other hand, traveled with Ramsey Horses Transport, a long-time supporter of Sharon, arriving a day later in Victoria.

Despite facing a shift in weather from sunshine to cold and rainy conditions, they adapted well. Thanks to an excellent indoor arena and comfortable stables, their horses found solace in small grass paddocks during the day. Warm beverages like hot chocolate and tea became their companions during the chillier days.

Excitement fills the air as they eagerly await the start of the competition. The fantastic news is that they now have enough riders for a WA Para team, consisting of Sharon Jarvis, Suzin Wells, and Chelsea De Jonge. This year's National Dressage Championships boast the largest gathering of 38 Para riders to date, including those who have flown their horses from New Zealand.
