CITY LEADER

City Leader, a 2008 gelding by State City, retired from racing in 2012 after minimal trials. Abby formed a partnership with City Leader, affectionately called Chewy, in 2016, with Chewy already experienced in 95cm eventing under Gemma Haddelton. Together, they progressed from 80cm eventing to competing at the 2* level.

Abby emphasizes the significance of Chewy's presence throughout her teenage years and transitions. Their bond was tested when Chewy required emergency surgery after a floating accident in July 2021. Despite the setback, their perseverance paid off as Chewy underwent successful rehabilitation and returned to saddle.

Their achievements include placing 10th in the Diamond Class at Equestrian in the Park in 2022. In 2023, they showcased their resilience and talent by securing 6th place at the Brigadoon CCI-S in the CCI2*-S category, demonstrating their continued growth and success in the eventing circuit. Chewy's journey with Abby symbolises their partnership and determination to overcome challenges, reflecting their commitment to the sport and each other.
