Expressions Of Interest to host the 2018 Australian Dressage Championships

The Equestrian Australia Dressage Committee (EADC) invites all interested dressage event organisers to apply to host the 2018 Australian Dressage Championships.

These Championships are one of the most significant competitions on the Australian Dressage Calendar. In addition to conducting classes from Novice to Grand Prix/GP Freestyle, an FEI CDI-W is also conducted as part of the “Big Tour” program.

The venue, footing, stabling and facilities should be of a standard in keeping with this prominent Australian Dressage event. Facilities for competitors, spectators and media should also be of a superior standard.

Dates: The preferred calendar dates for the competition is October 2018. It is a matter of course now that the National PE Championships are held at the same time, but the EADC would like applicants to also consider conducting the Australian Pony Championships concurrently with this event.

Facilities need to be in the capacity of the following:

  • 5-6 competition arenas
  • 2 general training areas
  • 2-3 warm-up arenas
  • Footing must be a modern rakeable sand or sand mixture suitable for dressage
  • Indoor arena capable of seating 2000 as a minimum.
  • 200 stables plus
  • Truck and float parking areas
  • Day stalls or yards
  • Camping facilities inc. access to power and water – at least 100 sites
  • Media facilities: dedicated media centre, managed by a media liaison officer, and that offers working Internet and timely delivery of results.

Rules 8.1 – 8.10 of the Australian Dressage Rules provide guidance on the facilities and technical requirements to conduct the Australian Dressage Championships.

Budget: Some external funding is available through state contributions and potential contributions through the EA High-Performance Program and EA International Competition Development Fund (ICDF).   It is possible that Federal and State Government Grants may also be applicable. A Profit/Loss of previous national championships is available on request.  In the past, the budget has also included a fee for the Director of the Event.
