Equestrian WA Newsletter July 22, 2011

Our apologies to everyone for yesterday’s blooper of sending out an issue of the blast that was not complete. Cyberworld works (and sometimes doesn’t!) in mysterious ways.

NOTE TO ALL COMPETITORS:
Competitors and Exhibitors must be aware of all general regulations of EA to compete.  A breach of these regulations are known as Strict Liability offences.
Whilst the penalty does not result in a trip to the Disciplinary Tribunal they do incur fines and if a repeat offender this can result in suspension.

These are two examples of a Strict Liability Offences:
  • Competing in an Official competition on an unregistered horse:
  • Competing in an Official competition or event on a horse whose registration and/or performance card is not current:
Please read the list of offences in the Disciplinary By-Laws and the penalties that accompany them.
Whilst the majority of the SL offences pertain to horses it is simple if you ride a horse whether it be yours or another owner makes sure that all the horse’s paper work is correct and up to date.

EA are in the process of distributing these out to all concerned though at this stage have only completed the General ones up to Level 1. EA are looking to roll out the Specialist workbooks from Introductory level up in the coming months once reformatted and checked. PARA EQUESTRIAN JUDGES’ SEMINAR – AUGUST 27th, 2011 – SEC.
REGISTRATION 8.30am
The Seminar will be conducted by Jan Geary, an International PE Dressage Judge- FEI 5*, NOAS A and Judge Educator. Jan regularly judges at National PE Championships and International PE competitions and officiated at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
Since becoming the 8th discipline of the FEI, Para Equestrian has become a much more professional sport. Both riders and horses are of a much higher standard with many of the combinations competing at FEI level in mainstream dressage.

JUDGES
WA has some very talented and enthusiastic PE riders who value being judged by judges who are not only well credentialed mainstream judges but also those who have knowledge of what is required in judging Para Equestrian tests.
Until now, judges were not given any official status on a PE judges’ list unless they were International FEI PE judges, this seminar will give qualified NOAS D level judges and above the opportunity to apply to be listed on a National PE Judges’ List, after the seminar.

RIDERS AND COACHES
Riders and coaches of all levels are invited and encouraged to attend the seminar. This is a great opportunity to find out just what the judge is looking for when judging a PE test. It is also an opportunity for those who are considering competing in PE tests to find out more about the Grading and Classification System and how to become a PE classified rider.

VAL MAYGER
WA PE REPRESENTATIVE.

SPURS
If there is a shank it must not be more than 3.5 cm long and must
point only towards the rear, (the overall shank must be measured from the boot to the end of the spur).
We now find 70% of spurs being used are over 3.5cm when measured from the boot to the end of the spur.
Some spurs come with a wide arm which also adds to the length.
Spurs are sold by retailers on the length of the shank, this rule now means riders buying  3.5cm spurs will find they are overlength when fitted.
Spursuader spur not allowed in Eventing.
