Position Available - Caretaker & Groundsperson

About the Role

As Caretaker/Groundsperson, you will live on site at the State Equestrian Centre located in Brigadoon (10 minutes from Ellenbrook) in the recently renovated caretaker’s house. You will be required to perform after-hours and weekend duties, in addition to the day-to-day operations of the 33-hectare event facility.

Reporting directly to the Facility Administration Officer, you will ensure that the facility is secure after hours, provide after-hours support, and ensure the facility is presented to a high standard for events and other bookings. You will find your day diversified as you are tasked with a range of duties including but not limited to arena preparation, completing maintenance, gardening, mowing, waste management and more.

This role is a permanent full time (FTE) position with weekend work required on a rotational roster. This role may suit a couple. 

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working within a similar position as a caretaker, groundsperson and/or facility manager.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a collaborative team member.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Strong influencing and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • Western Australia drivers' license (manual preferred).
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Working with Children Certificate and National Police Check.

Other key desirables include:

  • Experience working within the sporting industry (e.g. equestrian, racing).
  • Experience with machinery and tools (e.g. line trimmer, chainsaw, zero turn mowers).
  • Relevant licenses to operate heavy machinery or other equipment (e.g. skid steer, tractor).
  • Working at Heights Certificate.
  • Working with Hazardous Material and Chemicals.
