New Categories

EWA is excited to announce that we have introduced two new membership categories for 2018 - Recreational and Adult Riding. Could you or a friend be one of these new members?

EWA Recreational membership is for those who enjoy riding a horse in equestrian activities for pleasure, riding out or as a member of an equestrian club. A Recreational member may have had limited association with EWA in the past and could be a member of an equestrian club that is outside of the seven EA sports. The EWA Recreational member will now be able to ride with the peace of mind of 24/7 Personal Accident and Public Liability Insurance.

EWA Adult Riding membership is for those who are currently a member of an EWA Affiliated Adult Riding Club. The Adult Riding Club must also be a member of the Adult Riding Clubs Association of WA (ARCA). An Adult Riding member actively participates in equestrian sport activities in a club environment and may compete in competitions with their peers both interclub, intraclub and at EWA events in Participant classes or Adult Riding classes.

Membership Benefits

Some of the benefits of Equestrian Western Australia membership include:

Insurance
EWA provides all of our members with 24/7 Personal Accident and Public Liability Insurance. Your EWA insurance covers you for any non-income earning activity when you are handling your horse whether in the paddock, on a trail ride, at a clinic, at a competition and when you are travelling to and from an event. The insurance will assist while you are off work with a loss of income protection component. For more information on what is covered, visist the Gow Gates website.

Competition Pathways
Being an Adult Rider, Participant or Competitor member of EWA means that you can compete at your permitted levels in our administered disciplines. Competitor members also have the opportunity to be selected and supported by our high performance programs. Achievement at all levels is recognised through prizes at events, leader-boards and annual awards for each discipline.

State Equestrian Centre & Education Discounts
All EWA members receive discounts at the SEC which range from 33% to 50% compared to non-member fees. These discounts include the hire of arenas, cross country course and stabling. EWA also conducts many educational seminars, masterclasses and special events where EWA members receive discounts.

SportsPass
In addition to the above, we have recently combined with SportsPass to bring our members extra benefits for free! SportsPass gives members the opportunity to receive a digital membership card that provides access to discounts at many businesses.

And much more!

2018 Membership Fees

After several years of maintaining membership fees at the same level, EWA will be increasing some membership fees by CPI for 2018. We are very conscious of the costs of owning a horse and supporting Equestrian sports and in this endeavour, the membership fees for Junior memberships and Club affiliation fees have not been increased. While we do not offer a family membership category we do offer a student rebate for tertiary students and this rebate has been increased for 2018. The cost of Junior Competitor membership is 25% less than the cost of Senior membership for the reason of supporting Junior members and their families.

Competition Licenses fees have been increased by CPI for 2018 after remaining the same for many years. It is important to note that in WA, Medication Control (Swabbing at EA Events) is paid from funds raised by the purchase of Competition Licenses negating the need for event organisers to add swabbing levies. We believe that the continued resourcing of Medication Control in WA is very important for the sport as a whole and the welfare of the horse.
