EA Officials Forum & Course: Creating a Level Playing Field

This forum/course is for people interested in becoming an EA Official and current EA Officials needing to attend a Refresher Course for reaccreditation. Judges, riders and Coaches are also welcome to attend to observe.

The day will consist of presentations by EA National Medication Control Officer Dr Cate Plummer, FEI Steward General Chris Wallis and EA Officials Pathway Manager Di Saunders.

Participants will receive:

  • Certificate of participation/attendance
  • Yellow Steward Vest (upon successful accreditation)
  • Handouts with course content
  • Morning Tea, light lunch and afternoon tea

Seminar: Equine Learning Theory with Dr Andrew McLean

Join Dr Andrew McLean as he demonstrates the principles of learning theory both in-hand and under-saddle for optimum performance and welfare of the horse. Understand what is required, how it is achieved, what aids to use so that none are ambiguous and the precise moments of when to apply them. Whether you are a competitive rider, pleasure rider, or coach, these principles will help set you up for success in all aspects of training and riding.

Dr Andrew McLean PhD (Equine Cognition & Learning), BSc (Zoology), Dip Ed is a winner of the highest Australian science award, the Eureka Prize for Science, and is in great demand as a trainer, coach and speaker. In addition to establishing the Australian Equine Behaviour Centre, he has written 5 books, including an international bestseller, and authored 35 peer-reviewed journal articles.

EWA Show Horse is excited to present the 2018 Show Horse Seminar & Riders Forum. If you are interested in learning more about the sport and what a judge looks for in a successful Show Horse/Hunter, then this is the seminar for you! The Seminar will feature guest speaker Terry Van Heythuysen (VIC) who has been involved with showing horses for many years and has numerous state and national title wins to his credit.

The EWA Show Horse Committee will also be conducting their annual Forum following the Seminar. Riders, judges and event organisers encouraged to attend to discuss the sport.
