EFA WA Dressage Squad Criteria for 2007

·        The purpose of the Squad is to assist riders who intend to compete at National Championships

·        Qualifying scores must be by the horse-rider combination in official classes, preferably in the preceding 6 months, although scores from the preceding 12 months may be considered

·        Consistently high performers have a better chance of selection than occasional high performers

·        To maintain their position on a Squad, riders will be required to attend Squad clinics or receive regular training from a qualified home-based trainer

·        To maintain their position on the Squad, riders should ride at major competitions on a regular basis (at least twice on each horse during each 6 month period)

·        Attendance may also be required at a ridden assessment day

·        Contract - Riders who are offered a place on a Squad, will be required to sign a contract. The contract will require members to notify the Selection Panel if the combination is unable to compete or attend clinics so that the place can be offered to another rider. Squad riders may be eligible for some reimbursement for clinics when they complete a Reimbursement Form at the end of each 6 month period explaining how they have assisted Dressage in WA (paid coaching will not be accepted as assistance).

·          Application - Riders who wish to be on any Dressage Squad must apply to the State Selection Panel through Dressage WA in writing, by the date published in The West Australian in November and May, providing a copy of :

2.       Reimbursed (free) lessons must be at SEC or other DWA agreed venues at Squad clinics

3.       Invoiced lessons from approved coaches may be reimbursed when riders have made a contribution to Dressage. Riders need to complete a reimbursement form to accompany the invoice, which should be sent to the Dressage Squad Coordinator.
